Rick Riordan’s Mythological Universe Timeline

When we belong to a fandom of an inter-connected universe, there is always in the back of our mind that how the different series are connected to each other, and when the different events take place. Many people who are new to the fandom often get confused. So, here I have compiled the timeline of all the Rick Riordan’s books in the shared universe. This includes books in Percy Jackson & the Olympians, The Kane Chronicles, Heroes of Olympus, Magnus Chase & the Gods of Asgard, Trials of Apollo, the crossover stories and the short stories.

Note: Rick Riordan clearly states that unlike Harry Potter, his books are not bound to specific years, and I respect his choice. After all, he created this world, so he gets to make these decisions. The years I use here are just to make things more clear, as it will be tougher to list out the events otherwise. The years I write are based on few of my assumptions and by keeping few clues in the books in mind. Also, I will not be listing out the events that took place within the book.

COLOR KEY

Blue for Greek/ Roman events.
Red for Egyptian events.
Orange for Norse events.
Pink for the crossover events.
Green for Notes

** Sadie said ‘soon after saving the world’, so I’m assuming she means after Crown of Ptolemy and not Staff of Serapis.

The Following do not follow any timeline, thus have not been listed.

  • The Ultimate Guide
  • The Survival Guide
  • Demigods & Monsters
  • Hotel Valhalla: A Guide to the Norse Worlds [Except few events mentioned in the timeline.]
  • Camp Half-Blood: Confidential [Except few events mentioned in the timeline.]
  • Brooklyn House: Magician’s Manual [Except few events mentioned in the timeline.]

So, that’s all about the timeline of Rick Riordan books. Again I remind, the years are only  for making it easier to understand. Rick Riordan has asked not to bound his books to any year. I’ll update it with any new info we get or whenever a new book releases. You’re free to refer it when you re-read the franchise or while reading these for the first time. I hope this helped you. If you have any query or if I’m forgetting something, please let me know in the comment section.

Thank you sooo much dude! I love you I love you I love you Aarnav. I was reading the Ship of the Dead, and at the end, Annabeth was sad about something. I had a burning suspicion, but it was tough to calculate. I searched for the timeline, and I got this awesome site! Yep, The Burning Maze was around the time of the Ship of the Dead. Thank you soooo much! YOU MUST HAVE PUT SOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH EFFORT TO GET THIS DATA! DAMNNN.

You’re welcome! And, actually, I need to update this. With The Tower of Nero, it won’t exactly hold correct. Needs some editting.

I wrote it few years back, so I don’t really recall how much time it took. 😂 But I’ve been updating it ever since, as soon as I catch up with the latest entry.

Post Heroes of Olympus, you should totally check out Magnus Chase series. It’s as good as the original Percy Jackson. Trials of Apollo, though isn’t as engaging, but the little hints about it in Magnus Chase, as they take place simultaneously, along with a lot of cameos, is fun to read.
